Khachatur Abovyan House-museum
The house where Khachatur Abovyan spent his childhood and youth became his house-museum in 1938. Mr. Apov, Khachatur Abovyan's grandfather, built this house with his own hands about 200 years ago.
This house was always full of guests, among whom there were clergymen and intellectuals: Mikael Nalbandyan, Stepanos Nazaryan, Komitas, Hovhannes Tumanyan and other famous people.
In the museum, you can see Abovyan's manuscripts, a portrait, which was handed over to the museum by Abovyan's descendants, grandchildren. The museum fund has more than 650 samples, which tell about the writer's literary, pedagogical, scientific and later publications. One can see Khachatur Abovyan's translations, manuscripts, as well as objects of applied art: archaeological, everyday and ethnographic objects, photos and documents. The first and subsequent editions of Khachatur Abovyan's novel "The Wound of Armenia" can be seen in the exhibition of the museum. There are some of the writer's letters.
The museum is constantly in contact with the Armenian State Pedagogical University named after Khachatur Abovyan. Students conduct practical training here. There are educational programs for school children.
